I know this means nothing but a least the end is in sight!
Our Christmas tree is up and flashing and we've started lighting our fire I'm feeling so excited about Christmas!
Toad in the hole is a classic and real goody for cold nights. My brood love this dinner, give it a go!
Ingredients
- Oil
- 8 sausages
- 1/2 pint milk
- 4 oz flour
- 3 eggs
- pinch salt
Method
- The key is to have a really hot oven. Heat oven to 240 c, put about 1 inch of oil in a baking tin I use a bread loaf tin and heat in oven for 10 minutes.
- Remove the tin from the oven and add the sausages cook until golden around 10 minutes.
- Remove tin and quickly pour over the batter mix (I always quickly arrange the sausages so they will be poking out the Yorkshire mix so they can brown!) and put back in the oven turn down the heat slightly and cook for 15/20 minutes until Yorkshire has risen and gone golden and sausages have browned.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and your favourite vegetables with lots of gravy!
Of all the recipes, with a 3 year old and a 13 year old (who has bizarre views on eating) I've finally found a recipe that means EVERYONE will eat the same thing without any variations (can you make it but without the veg in? can you make it but without a lid on mine!? etc.etc.)
